COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the last six years, Ohio State has produced the Big 10 women's basketball Player of the Year.
Junior center Jantel Lavender was named the 2010 Player of the Year for the third-consecutive year Monday, joining former Buckeye Jessica Davenport -- who held it from 2005 through 2007 -- as the only three-time recipients of the award.
Sophomore Samantha Prahalis joined Lavender as unanimous selections for first team All-Big Ten.
Junior Brittany Johnson, one of the top three-point shooters in the country, was an honorable mention selection from the media while Shavelle Little earned her third-consecutive all-defensive team honor.
Lavender has scored in double-figures in all 97 career games, which is the longest active streak in Division I.
She currently leads the Big Ten with 20.9 points per game,

The Buckeyes made it look easy in their season opener, manhandling Marshall 45-7, but know it won't be that easy next Saturday, when the 13th-ranked Miami Hurricanes come to Ohio Stadium.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored a 98th-minute penalty kick and the Columbus Crew reached their first U.S. Open Cup final since 2002 with a 2-1 overtime semifinal victory over short-handed D.C. United on Wednesday.
Like a sure-footed runner eluding tacklers, Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel avoided weighing in on an ongoing controversy over rescheduling the OSU-Michigan game to some time other than the final weekend of the regular season.
